3D Rigging
3D Rigging is an important part of 3D character animation and is the process of attaching a skin (or mesh) onto a virtual skeleton.
At Cartoozo we use cutting-edge technology to help us achieve pin-point precision when rigging a character. We can use these techniques to simulate facial expression and bodily movement of any kind.
We use 3D rigging in conjunction with 3D modelling as part of the process of 3D animation. Our experienced animation team are experts in their field and will work closely with you to ensure your character moves and looks the way you want it to. We’re committed to delivering a quality product that you and your customers will love.
3D Rigging Techniques
Rigging uses a set of helper objects, modifiers and tools to prepare a character for animation. Here are a few of the techniques that we use:
Facial animation – using a morpher modifier, we can set morph targets to alter the original object and simulate facial expression.
Morph targets – morph targets allow you to move vertices to change the original shape of your character.
Creating bones for the character rig – morpher modifiers control facial expressions, but the rest of the body is controlled by the bones. These are a bit like the sticks a puppeteer uses to control a puppet. By creating a chain of bones, you can move an entire limb.
Rotational joints – simulating shoulder, wrist and ankle joints.
